From a young age, Zach competed in many sports such as lacrosse, football, basketball, soccer and squash. In his early athletic career, Zach wasn’t the strongest or fastest athlete but loved to compete and enjoyed the outdoors. At the University of Virginia, he played squash and was a captain of the team in his 4th and final year. CrossFit was introduced as a supplement to his squash and triathlon training upon graduating from UVA in the Fall 2012. After taking a boot camp course at Solidarity CrossFit in his hometown of Charlottesville, VA – Zach turned his membership into a coaching opportunity upon completion of the CrossFit Level 1 (CF-L1) Course in the Summer 2015. He also is a certified USA-Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach (USAW SPC) and ran a supplemental barbell club program at his old box.
