Grappling today. I haven’t been able to go for a few weeks, and felt like I’m regressing a bit. One thing that I have noticed, even under pressure, I can relax and gut out a lot of the submission attempts that I get myself into. I think this is one real advantage of CrossFit workouts, you gut-check yourself enough, and realize that the mind can control a lot of the bodies reactions. When that joint is in question though, I be tapping in a heartbeat.

glad to read that the workouts are working for you. I know a thing or two about working on the mat and I can say that keeping a cool head under fire is obtained by confidence in your fitness and ability to take and give punishment.
agreed, gutting out a choke is one thing and can actually motivate your partner to close the space and set it deeper… but gutting through torque on a shoulder? don’t be a silly goose 🙂
