“this isn’t fun at all!”

My first lesson of class was not to demonstrate double unders while Steph is around. Having done two training sessions Tuesday afternoon, I went to eat with the Jiu Jitsu crew, then straight to class. After the warmup, I ran everyone through what was to come, including stumbling through some skips. Later I was to find out we have a pro, so from know on she is the demo person for this movement.

The workout

Five rounds of:
1 minute kettlebell swings (32/24/16/12 kgs)
1 minute double unders
1 minute DB thrusters(40/35/25/20 lbs)
1 minute rest

Scoring was kept for each round, I told everyone it would be calculated by the lowest score per exercise for each individual. No one “paced” though, so i will look at the scoring a few ways: lowest, total, and by highest round.

Scores to come tomorrow.

To revisit the double unders: Erin, straight from San Fran CF, hit 50 in a minute in her first class with us. Steff (Xiao) killed it with 90 in one round!

  1. CFDC Maiko says:

damn 90 in one round? that’s insane! Sad that I missed that, guess we’ll be doing a lot more double unders in class?

  2. It’s probably not fair to everybody that jumping rope is a requirement in PE class in Chinese elementary schools and I’ve been doing it since I was 7. I bet with time everybody will be pretty good at it. Steve O and Henry were doing well and others were getting the hang of it as well by the 3rd round.
That was a tough workout though. Great work by everyone!
