In memory of Sgt. Zachary Tellier
Killed in Action in Afghanistan October 2007

Tuesdays workout was an excessive amount of bodyweight exercises. Actually not my idea of the most effective kind of training, but it has its time. Tuesday was the time, following Memorial Day so this was dedicated to Zach, who basically lived on Chris Rutynas couch for months at a time. If you noticed Chris pushing even harder than usual, its because he knew what this was about.

Looked like a great workout. Sorry i missed it. So what’s the word on the happy hour at my place on June 5th?

  2. Jade says:

We had to miss it as well. I could barely move after the Murph workout at Primal on Monday. I won’t be able to attend the happy hour, but Zach never misses an opportunity to get drinks. I have a good excuse though…I’ll be in Vegas!

@Steve: I should be able to attend the “happy hour” on June 5; though, I will arrive “fashionably late” (of course).

Part one of the workout (the back squats…which *cough* someone forgot to mention on the blog *cough*), I really enjoyed. I was able to perform twenty reps at 225# (which is more than my bodyweight).

Part two of the workout (the “tribute”) kicked my as…er, posterior. I guess focusing on the reps with the back squats left me a little spent when it came time to do (multiple) burpees (ugh!).

Although burpees (followed by push-ups, no less) are not my favorite exercise, it was still a good workout and a fitting tribute.

NOTE: I probably will not be able to attend tonight’s (May 28) workout because I have to meet a client at 1700 in Bristow (near Manassas). But I will be thinking of my CFDC family as I go to yoga. 🙂 Have a great one!

CFDC’s own ODB…is almost finished with his first blog (his experiences with the Zone).

Fu /Tom, thanks for the great workout. Again, I like the 1st half power/form work – second half metacon format. The extra motivation thinking about a friend helped push me harder than I have worked in a long long time. Even after a good stretch last night in yoga I feel like I was wacked in the back of the legs with a shovel. Even if the workout was not the most effective in terms of training technique, I do like an excessive misery workout from time to time to test how hard you can push through something. I find it gives a good framer of reference for how hard you can push yourself and not give in when running a race or doing another sport competition. That was fun.

  5. Monica says:

What a nice tribute, I read the article about Zach, and he sounds like an incredible guy.

June 5 works for me, I can bring food!

    See some of you tonight!

  6. TomandAmi says:

I was surprised how much the bw work out left me sore the next day (Ami as well)We will be there on the 5th (Ami’s Bday as well) What’s the protocol should we bring any thing?

  7. Maiko says:

Are we bringing goodies? Potluct/HH? I’m not sure what kinda goodies I can bring (aside from myself, HAH!), any suggestions?

And…where exactly do you live Steve??

  8. Fatima says:

Ditto to Monica: great workout and tribute. Thanks for including the article as well.

I’m going to add this workout to my XFit Travel workouts for the summer.

Also, I’m in for next Friday…just let us know the details and we can all bring something.

  9. steve says:

I guess you can bring whatever you guys want, like finger foods and such. Email me for directions: steveopiyo@hotmail.com

  10. Maiko says:

HUMP DAY!!!! WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO~!!!!! *dances around office*

Oh my goodness, this week sucks so far…and what’s up with the lack of updates? I needs me some escape from the office via CFDC blog comments!

  11. Jade says:

Seriously — Tom is killing me here! Ya’ll have fun at the HH! I’ll hopefully see everyone tomorrow. Work has been a tad busy as of late.

  12. Maiko says:

I’m sad it’s suppose to be cold and rainy tomorrow! I had a big hopes for a nice summer evening =( Then again it’s still technically Spring so that’s cool.

Hopefully it won’t be raining in Vegas! Unless it’s raining $$! =P

  13. Jade says:

I’d like for it to be raining $$! That made me start singing “It’s raining men…” Can’t say that would be a bad thing either!

  14. Maiko says:

Raining men…You sure are putting delightful thoughts into my wee little brain, LOL!

  15. Sara says:

Jade – you are not allowed to be wishing it was raining men. I hope you were only thinking of the song.

  16. Sara says:

P.S. I am hoping for some Tire Flipping tonight!!!

  17. Maiko says:

wee~ I’m still free to wish for it to be raining men~!!! Gimme gimme!!! :D~~

ps – way to steer the comments back to something CFDC related, Sara =P

  18. Sara says:

Yeah it is an addition and not one I can talk to other friends about.
