ComeInWereOpenSign

Hungry? Thirsty?? Then come on down to the CrossFit DC general store!

Well, maybe not so much a general store as a fully-stocked refrigerator, but still, ever wondered what all those delicious looking food and drink items were that seem to call out to you every time you walk by them? Wonder no more, we’re here to shed some insight on what we’ve got, and why you might want it. Just in time too – with all the new program and seminar offerings in play (and in the works), it’s a good thing we’ve got your refueling needs covered for those post-workout calorie pangs.

Kill Cliff recovery drinks ($3.00/can)

images-001

After you left all that sweat on the CrossFit DC gym floor, you need hydration and electrolytes. These Kill Cliff drinks provide all that without the addition of sugar or artificial flavors, and at only 15 calories. CFDC currently carries three flavors: “Tasty” (blood-orange), “Free Fall” (lemon-lime), and Berry Legit (blackberry lemonade).

Fuel for Firefruit and protein fuel packs ($3.00/pack, or four packs for $11)

FFF-001

 These packs are both paleo and vegetarian friendly, and have 10 grams of whey  protein and no artificial ingredients. They come in Triple Berry, Tropical, Sweet  Potato Apple and Banana Cocoa flavors. Super convenient, and a great pick-me-up for  immediately post-workout (or between workouts for those so inclined).

Best Bar Ever Protein Bars ($3.50/bar, or a box of six bars for $20.00)

bareverMost protein bars are just candy bars in disguise. These bars from CustomFit have 15 grams of protein and are a nutritious blend of mixed nuts, dried fruits, oats, proteins, and molasses in balanced combinations. For those in the know, these are not only good for you, but quite addictive.

Of course, we don’t plan on stopping there. We’ve got a few more items in mind to offer up, but if you have something you’d like to see, please feel free to sound off in the comments section!

Interested? It’s easy to grab some before or after class. Here’s how:

  1. You’ll find a clipboard on the front of the cooler at both gyms;
  2. Write down your name on the line specified;
  3. Then mark what and how much you took;
  4. We’ll automatically charge your purchases to your membership account, just like buying a t-shirt from us! (charges are processed on the 1st and 15th of each month).

This is an “On-your-honor” system, but knowing CFDC as we do, we don’t figure that’ll be a problem. Of course, sometimes that post workout haze gets pretty thick, so if you forget to mark down what you took, just let us know. No harm, no foul. We’re also still working on integrating a Square system, so keep your eyes peeled for updates.

Lest you’ve forgotten, CrossFit DC also offers two meal delivery services:

PowerSupply NB_PowerSUpply

Local to the DC-area (as in Northern Virginia close, and with owners that hail from our good friends at Trident CrossFit in Alexandria!), PowerSupply serves up “great food, prepared by local chefs and delivered weekly to fuel your life.” PowerSupply has been fueling local crossfitters and fitness fiends since 2011, and offers vegan and vegetarian options, as well as a stricter version of the Paleo diet. On top of that, PowerSupply also donates a portion of their proceeds from every meal made toward local community causes. That’s pretty dedicated. There are no contracts or commitments, and meals are delivered twice a week (food available Monday and Thursday mornings). Check out their website by clicking the link above to explore their current menu offerings, or to place an order.

NOTE: A Power Supply fridge is currently installed at the 14th St. gym only – interested in having PowerSupply deliver to H St? Let us know in the comments!

CustomFit CustomFit

CustomFit’s motto is “Eat Clean, Live Better,” and they certainly try to adhere to this by offering meals made under the premise of “clean eating,” using fresh, natural ingredients that are nutrient-dense and unprocessed. There are no contracts or commitments, and in addition to CustomFit’s twice-a-week delivery service (food available Monday and Thursday mornings), they now offer a new once-a-week delivery service (order by Wednesday to ensure your food is available Monday morning). Check out their website by clicking the link above to explore their current menu offerings, or to place an order.

Many thanks to our own Will P. for help in putting this post together.

    Things I’d like to see:
    Perhaps some packets/single servings of whey protein? Progenix, SFH or something of that nature.

    • Chris Sheppard says:

      Great call Jane!
      You’ll be happy to know we’re actually already looking into carrying SFH protein (possibly other products). A number of the coaches and competitors are in support, and it’s good to know others are as well. However, the single serving approach is an interesting idea, and something to add to the mix.

      Get it? “Mix”??
      Oh n/m.
