Road to a First Pull-up (and Then Some)

Focus 1: Turkish Get-Ups
Focus 2: Handstands & Handstand Push-Ups
Workout: Handstand Push-Ups, Box Jumps, & Sit-Ups



Now this is a delightful pairing: Turkish Get-Ups and Handstand Work (*shoulder stability* and *shoulder strength*, if you will). Class will start with a primer on the Turkish Get-Up, before moving on to a full range of handstand work, including walk walks and how best to kick up into a handstand.

We will split the class between the two movements, devoting time to the following points for each:

  • Turkish Get-Up (without weight, then with light weight, inc. Dumbbells and Kettlebells)
  • Wall Walks;
  • Kick-Up practice;
  • Kick-up attempts against the wall;
  • Handstand Push-Up (“HSPU”) Scaling options for use in the day’s workout (and class in general).
