Focus 1: Snatch
Focus 2: another kind of Snatch
Focus 3: yet another kind of Snatch
Workout: probably more snatching…along with some Box Jumps

Did you catch the drift that we’re going to be working on snatching this weekend at Base Camp? More particularly, we’re going to focus on how to graduate from the hang snatch (our preferred starting position for all those new to snatching), through lower and lower versions of the hang until we get to the floor.

  • Introduction and practical review of the High Hang Snatch, Hang Snatch, Low Hang Snatch, and Power Snatch movement, including lifts with just the bar and with added weight;
  • Follow-up review of the Snatch Extension, focusing on how to properly lift the bar from the floor the Hang Squat Snatch;
  • Explanation of common coaching cues;
  • Determining how much weight to use during class; and,
  • Scaling and substitution options for the Base Camp workout of the week, including how and when to choose a scaling/sub option

To review before class, we highly recommend checking out the following descriptions and demo videos from Catalyst Athletics:

Snatch Deadlift (AKA Snatch Extension)
