CrossFit DC is excited to announce that as of this week, we have fully implemented the workout tracking software TrainHeroic, which can track the progress of each and every CFDC member, including the results from all of our workouts and all max effort lifts. Best yet, it’s completely free for CFDC members!

Below, we’ll cover a few of the things you may want to know before we get started.

What is TrainHeroic?

Simply put, TrainHeroic is an online system for logging and tracking your workouts at CrossFit DC. All of our daily workouts will be pre-loaded, so logging your workouts will take a spare few seconds. With each workout you log, you’ll be able to monitor all your hard-earned performance gains and analyze your stats and results.

What will TrainHeroic do for me?

The purpose of using TrainHeroic is twofold.

FOR US, the GYM:

TrainHeroic will give the coaches a more detailed picture on where we can make our programming stronger and more well-rounded by keeping track of where members are improving, where they aren’t improving, and the possible why’s for both. In other words, it helps keep us more accountable for the variety of training we have for you. It will also allow us to see the interplay of multiple programs within the same gym (e.g., CrossFit, Weightlifting, Endurance, Boot Camp, etc) once we get them loaded into TrainHeroic as well (i.e., coming soon!)

FOR YOU, the MEMBERS:

In short, a better approach to your workouts! For example, knowing what your maxes are for any given lift helps you decide what weight to use in a class setting. Knowing where you’re improving and where you’re not lets you know which classes you should be going to, even if it’s something you don’t necessarily like doing. And, by using the leaderboard, you’ll have the opportunity to see where you fall in a workout, and thus whether you were using an appropriate weight or scaling option for certain movements. Of course, if you’re not keen on having your scores public knowledge, you can opt out of the leaderboard but still record your scores in the comments section. Coaches will still be able to view your work and thus help you continue to progress and achieve your goals. The sum total of all that is improved fitness.

Why TrainHeroic?
Why not WODify, or Beyond the White Board, or [fill in other system name here]?

TrainHeroic syncs with our current billing software, FrontDesk HQ, so that the gym is able to use two integrated systems which work together to provide a better experience to you as the athlete.

This means that you can log in to TrainHeroic with your FrontDesk username and password, but it also means that the service is free for all CrossFit DC members.

Getting Started

There are sure to be some bumps along the way – getting used to something new is always a learning process – but that’s specifically why we’ve spent the last two month’s testing out TrainHeroic on our coaches. We’ve been working hard to learn the system so that we can answer questions, troubleshoot issues, and assist in any way we can. Of course, you can already find a number of answers here at TrainHeroic’s FAQ site for Athletes.
You’ll be receiving an email inviting you to join the CrossFit DC “team.” The directions below will help guide you through the process once you’ve received the email. Of course, if you’re simply ready to dive in and register now, feel free to jump to our team page HERE and start the registration process now! (https://marketplace.trainheroic.com/#/subscribe?type=team&id=3451)

Step 1.  Open the invite email that says “Join My Team on TrainHeroic!” (this can be done from either a mobile phone or computer)

Step 2. Click the link that says “Click here to join the team: [and then the link will appear in the email].”

Step 3. After clicking the link, you will be taken to the CrossFit DC “team” page. Select the athlete option.

Step 4. Click on the blue *Sign Up* button. This is on the middle of the screen on a computer, or bottom right on mobile. (“Athlete Comped $0.00” should be grayed out).

Step 5. “Login or Create Account” will appear in the top right hand corner of your screen. Select “Sign up with Front Desk HQ”

– can’t remember your FrontDesk login? Not a problem! The login will be the email you have on file with CrossFit DC, and you’ll have the chance to remind yourself of your password (or create a new one), in the next step!

Step 6. A pop up screen will appear asking you to sign in to Front Desk HQ.  Enter your email and password.  If you forgot, select “Forgot your password?”  Follow those instructions and come back to this point.

Step 7. Once your e-mail and password are successfully entered, Front Desk HQ will have a pop-up that asks “Allow Access”. Click on it.

Step 8. The next screen will say “Click below to join this team!”  The name of the team is CrossFit DC (shocker!) with “Comped” underneath it.  Click on “Join Team”.

Step 9. The next screen is your Athlete home screen.  A pop-up will ask if you want to “Keep Looking” or “Get Started”.  Click “Get Started”.

– you can access the athlete home screen by selecting the circle (your avatar or picture once you choose one) at the top right hand side of the screen (if this doesn’t work on your mobile device, try logging in from a computer)

Step 10. The screen you are on now is your athlete home screen.  You can start exploring your Train Heroic page and adding in data (like your current one-rep maxes) that you will want access to in the future.  You can do this under “About Me” in the left hand corner.  There is a “Working Maxes” page that list a bunch of lifts.

Once you’re registered and logged in, go ahead, take a look around! Familiarize yourself with the workouts. At least four workouts per week will have elements that will be linked to the leaderboard. If you do not want to include your scores, that’s fine, simply record your score in the notes section.

If you have questions or problems accessing the CrossFit DC team, feel free to email us at info@crossfitdc.com. Until then, get ready to Train Heroic!
