I have been doing CrossFit for 9 months now and joined CrossFit DC in August of this year!
I love staying busy by being with friends and family, spending time outdoors, trying new restaurants and going to sporting events. You can usually find me socializing at any of the latter places when I’m not at the gym.
I’m working on improving my cooking and seasoning skills, mainly for evening meals. It wasn’t really something I had to worry about while growing up or during college, so I’m getting around to it now. I tend to make pretty plain meals so I’m trying to spice things up!
My least favorite movement is thrusters and I’m not really a fan of anything involving dumbbells. My favorite workouts are any that have rowing or snatches (w/ a barbell) involved!
A great tip I have gotten was to remove the noise/clanking when first picking the barbell up from the start position with some of the lifts. It has helped me focus on my initial form and I know immediately when something is off.
This may sound obvious, but I wish I knew to take better care of my hands and just find some good grips that worked for me. I had done lots of pull-ups and spent time in the weight room in college so I thought my hands were pretty tough but I wasn’t prepared for the volume.
