Growing up, Ben spent much of his time playing basketball or soccer — sometimes both, depending on the time of year. During his sophomore year of high school, his soccer coach introduced a weight training program that sparked Ben’s passion for strength training and sports performance. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in health and exercise science from Colorado State University, and while his career has since moved into the field of hospital administration, Ben remains committed to fitness as a lifelong pursuit.
Ben’s introduction to CrossFit started as most do. Bored with his usual mainstream gym routine, he agreed to accompany his wife to something new called CrossFit. After a grueling 60 minutes with CrossFit DC head coaches Tom Brose and Chris Sheppard, he was hooked. Within a year, he had obtained his Level 1 Certification and started assisting with classes at CrossFit DC.
Whether working with a seasoned athlete or someone new to CrossFit, Ben is energized by the opportunity to share his experience and help others maximize their potential. Outside of coaching, Ben continues to challenge himself by competing in team and individual CrossFit events.
