Chris

Co-Owner & Head Coach

Chris swears that his athletic career started at age 3 by necessity. Desperate to find an outlet for their son’s boundless energy, his parents tossed him into the pool to see if he was ready to start swim lessons. Sports quickly became a way of life, with one competitive season flowing into another – swimming, soccer, basketball, tennis, track and field, martial arts, football, ice hockey, and lacrosse.

It was this inclination for variety, amplified by years spent wandering the fitness wilderness after college sports, that led Chris to CrossFit DC in late 2007. Within a few short months, life before CrossFit seemed hard to imagine. Chris went on to apprentice under Coach Tom Brose for two years before leaving his job in the legal field and embracing CrossFit as a full-time pursuit.

Whether coaching kids, soon-to-be-moms, fitness rookies, or competitive CrossFitters, Chris takes pride in fostering an upbeat environment that welcomes anyone, regardless of ability. His approach mixes obsessive attention to form and technique with an equally dedicated commitment to promoting fun. After all, he has yet to see bad puns and corny jokes prevent anyone from learning how to get stronger, or move better. Fitness, he believes, doesn’t have to be serious to be effective – or life-changing.

In addition to helping others find and fulfill their fitness goals, Chris continues to add to his own athletic endeavors by competing in CrossFit, Olympic weightlifting, and the occasional triathlon.
