Favorite thing about Yoga:
Recently I’ve been drawn to the breathwork (pranayama) and meditation aspects of yoga the most. They give me a sense of grounding and a sense of calm that’s incredibly rejuvenating.The classes I teach at CrossFit DC mostly focus on flexibility and mobility, but I love, but I weave in breathing and meditation techniques too so people get exposure to all the different tools yoga has to offer.
Favorite movement(s) or workout(s):
Pigeon pose!
Favorite things to do outside of the gym:
Anything outside! Pickleball, climbing, hiking. And composing music on my handpan. If you drop into one of my classes, you’ll likely hear me play during savasana!
How did you first get into Yoga?
My sister invited me to a class in 2018. I went in not knowing what to expect, but I was quickly drawn in by the sense of calm and mental clarity I felt afterward. Mental health has always been a priority for me, so discovering that yoga could offer such a deep sense of peace, awareness, and perspective was life-changing.
Why did you decide to become a yoga teacher?
After completing my Yoga Teacher Training, I decided to just give teaching a try. Standing in front of a group of people for 60 minutes and leading a class was completely new to me, but it challenged me to grow in ways I hadn’t expected. Being there for others pushed me to show up better for myself too. And somewhere in the process of noticing my students experience the same benefits that first drew me in—seeing their joy and growth— I realized that I found my true passion in life.
